Professor Brennan is the world's most published Medical Radiation Scientist.  His publications involve exploring novel technologies and techniques that enhance the detection of clinical indicators of disease, whilst minimising risk to the patient. He is recognized as a leader in clinical translation of medical imaging optimization and radiological perception. His research has been disseminated through 35 keynote/plenary talks across 5 continents.  He is the recipient of 20 highly prestigious awards.  In total, he has published over 280 original papers in the highest ranked radiological journals along with the seminal textbookRadiation Protection in Diagnostic X-ray Imaging(Jones and Bartlett Learning 2016).  He has generated $23m in funding from bodies such as the US National Institute of Health, European Union, NHMRC and a variety of other Australian and New Zealand bodies.  His publications have resulted in him being the only recipient of two prestigious Honorary Fellowships from both Australia and Europe:  the first ever Honorary Fellowship of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (2017); the third Lifetime Fellowship ever awarded by the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy. He has supervised over 100 research students and was Health Sciences Research Supervisor of the Year at the University of Sydney in 2016and2017 and received the Vice-Chancellor's Award for HDR supervision in 2018.  He serves on two Government appointed National Advisory bodies and currently leads Cancer research in Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. In 2018 he was conferred with the University of Sydney Payne-Scott Professorial Distinction. In 2019 he Co-founded DetectED-X a University Start up promoting cancer detection amongst clinicians.
